2011 Federal Tax Credits Available for Qualifying Residential Systems

Carrier is pleased to report that the federal tax credit on qualifying high-efficiency HVAC equipment was modified and extended through December 31, 2011 by the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010.This program differs from the program effective in 2009-2010 in the following ways:

• The maximum amount an eligible homeowner may receive in tax credits for "residential energy property" will be reduced from $1,500 to $500. The cap is on the total amount of credits a homeowner may claim for purchases between 2006 and 2011, not just for 2011. If a homeowner has already claimed credits of $500 or more through this allowance, they will be unable to claim new credits for improvements made during 2011.
• All furnaces and boilers, whether natural gas, propane or oil, must have an AFUE of 95 or above to be eligible for the credit.
• The credit is no longer 30% of qualified residential energy property costs (including labor), but is now equal to an amount not to exceed:

Are you ready to meet more customers? The Carrier Golden Prospect Program is full of possibilities. Golden Prospect marketing is a lead acquisition program offered exclusively to you—a participating dealer who’s already part of the Cool Choices Program—that will help you generate potential consumer leads based on certain demographic criteria. The Golden Prospect Program personalizes communication pieces that support you on a local level—sending marketing communication to your best prospects. You’ll have a choice of concepts for each campaign (spring and fall) that are uniquely personalized for your dealership and include your name, logo, address, license number (if required by state law) and phone number. Program options are set up for the entire year—however participation is open to dealer preference (Spring only or Spring and Fall). Postage is included. Leads are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Homeowners (individual consumers) may claim their rebates and/or check the status of their rebates online at www.CarrierCoolChoices.com. Remember, this is a great opportunity to sell up & sell more, increase your product mix, and remain competitive in the market!

Important information for the spring promotion:

We added a labor warranty option in lieu of the cash or merchandise – on select systems only.

• Eligible systems may qualify for either a 5 year or 10 year optional labor warranty.

For all claims, dealers will be required to provide the full model number of each product the homeowner purchases.

New products have been added to the grid for the fall:

• 25ANA6 and 25HN*5
• Additional products may be added as they are introduced during the Cool Choices promotion.

Generators have been removed from the spring promotion so there are no rebates available on generators.

AwardperQs are included in the spring Cool Choices promotion.

• Each unit on the grid qualifies for 100 AwardperQs, unless shown or stated otherwise on the AwardperQs grid.
• Distributors must enroll dealers in AwardperQs via HVACpartners in order for the dealer to earn AwardperQs.

The Infinity air purifier has a rebate of $150. Homeowners do not need to purchase a unit or system to receive the Infinity air purifier rebate.

• Rebates on ventilators, humidifiers, and UV lights are applicable only if the homeowner purchased a unit or system.

Unit sales and system sales require the purchase of a Carrier branded control. Qualifying controls include the Carrier-branded, residential controls: Infinity control, Edge controls, TSTATCC or ZONECC controls. All thermostats and controls must be Carrier branded. No competitive models or sister branded controls or thermostats will be accepted.

All rebates will be paid via a VISA Debit Card.

• The card is accepted anywhere VISA is accepted.
• Carrier brand impressions – thousands when you consider people see the card at restaurants, stores, etc. Free advertising.
• If the homeowner wants a check instead of the prepaid debit card, they can request a check AFTER they receive the debit card. Instructions will appear in the information the homeowner receives with the debit card.
• If the homeowner wants to transfer money from the debit card into their bank account, they can AFTER they receive the card. Available in the U.S. only.
• Both the VISA debit card and the paper check are issued by Citibank, N.A.

MAKE SURE TO REVIEW THE REBATE GRIDS FOR MODELS INCLUDED IN THE REBATE OFFER.

Not all models and/or combinations are offered in the promotion.

Warranty Offer

For the spring promotion, we are adding an optional 10-year labor warranty or optional 5-year labor warranty on select systems. The warranty grid is color-coded to illustrate which system combinations qualify for the 10-year optional labor warranty and which system combinations qualify for the 5-year optional labor warranty. Not all system combinations on the grid qualify for the warranty offer. Likewise, unit only sales do not qualify for the warranty offer.

The optional labor warranty is only applicable to certain systems on the Cool Choices rebate grid. Not all systems qualify for the optional labor warranty. In addition, the dealer must have a signed Dealer Participation Agreement for warranty on file with Carrier in order to offer the optional labor warranty to the homeowner. If the dealer offers the warranty but does not have this agreement on file, the claim will not be processed. It is the distributor’s responsibility to make sure the dealer has the necessary paperwork on file in order for the dealer to offer the Cool Choices optional labor warranty to the customer.

The labor warranty option is offered exclusively with the purchase of Puron® refrigerant systems. Optional labor warranty contracts are for systems only and not unit sales. The Cool Choices Optional Labor Warranty includes labor only; parts are excluded in this warranty offer.

To qualify for a system purchase, all equipment must be manufactured by Carrier and a branded Carrier system includes outdoor unit +indoor unit + tstat. The optional labor warranty does not cover the following Carrier branded products: Media Filtration (EZ Flex, etc.), Stand-by Power Generators, Duct-Free Systems, or Geothermal products.

5-Year or 10-Year Optional Labor Warranty: Via a spring Cool Choices warranty claim form, the participating Cool Choices dealer has the opportunity to offer the homeowner either a cash rebate or optional labor warranty on qualified systems. A homeowner cannot choose both the rebate and optional labor warranty; they must pick one or the other.

The 5-year or 10-year Optional Labor Warranty is available only through participating Cool Choices dealers who also have a signed warranty participation agreement on file with Carrier. This warranty offer is a single, specific warranty valid only during the spring 2011 Cool Choices promotional period. It is valid on qualifying systems only and begins on the 366th start date. See the warranty grid to determine which systems qualify for the 5-Year or 10-Year Optional Labor Warranty.

This warranty is provided at the $90 labor rate. Other labor rates are not available on this offer. The cost of this optional labor warranty is being subsidized by Carrier and will be charged back at the same value as if the homeowner chose the cash rebate.

The value of the Optional Labor Warranty is equivalent to the value of the cash rebate. The process will work just like the standard rebate process. The participating dealer will make the Cool Choices sale, install the equipment, and assist the homeowner with filling out the “Cool Choices Warranty Claim Form”. The homeowner will go on-line to submit their claim, which will state whether they are choosing the system rebate or Optional Labor Warranty.

If the Optional Labor Warranty is chosen, once the claim form is filed and the homeowner receives their confirmation number, Carrier will enter the information into the warranty system and a contract will be mailed to the homeowner within 12-24 weeks. The warranty group will then issue a bill to the distributor for your portion plus your dealer’s portion of the rebate cost.

No additional filing is required by the distributor or dealer.

The Optional Labor Warranty only covers the following listed Carrier branded products: Infinity air purifier, Controls, Furnaces, Air Conditioners, Heat Pumps, Fan Coils, and Small Packaged Products. This Optional Labor Warranty offer does NOT cover the following Carrier branded products: Media Filtration (EZ Flex, etc.), Stand-by Power Generators, Duct-Free Systems, or Geothermal products.

The Optional Labor Warranty contract value is equivalent to the stated rebate amount for the system listed. This Optional Labor Warranty offer is valid in all states and Canada unless otherwise prohibited.

Where valid, the offer is exclusive to participating Carrier Cool Choices dealers who have a signed warranty participation agreement on file with Carrier.
