All commercial buildings are equipped with a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system to maintain a comfortable environment for all of the occupants. Capable of maintaining individual rooms, an HVAC system turns even the warmest, sunniest room into a veritable ice box when put on a cold enough setting. An HVAC wears down like anything else, though. The different parts of the system require tuning, and the vents need to be cleaned and cared for to prevent detritus and spores from entering rooms along with the air. Servicing this critical system regularly makes your life better.
The Basics of Service
The easy answer to the question is that a commercial HVAC should receive service on a yearly basis at minimum. Extra service that focuses on specific parts of the system at large can improve efficiency to a greater extent. Focus on the heating system in the fall months, before its greatest time of use. If this system uses oil for fuel, this is the time to clean it and repair worn parts. The same principle applies to the cooling aspects, only the air conditioning should receive an examination during the spring instead. The coils of the system should be cleaned regularly to prevent dust and dirt from building up and impacting the air quality inside the building. The condensate pump is often ignored during examination, which puts it at severe risk for a shutdown. Make sure this part receives service, too.
Why Should I Service so Regularly?
An HVAC is a very important part of any building. Imagine this past winter if you did not have one installed. The cold would have caused real trouble inside your building. In a work space, you don’t have the luxury of building a fire or covering yourself with multiple blankets. The season would have been a nightmare. All of this comes before the benefits of such service.
Your HVAC needs to be dependable and efficient above all else. It also needs to last as long as your building does, especially if it is a commercial system made for larger buildings. Fixing any issues quickly will encourage that. In addition, updating the system to meet changing environmental and energy regulations is imperative for the survival of the planet—and your wallet if you don’t want to get slapped with fines. Servicing and repairing your HVAC on a regular basis makes everyone who enters your building happier, especially when the weather starts turning more extreme.
